An OEM needed a cleanline actuator for their new line of thermoform food packaging machines. They wanted a compact solution with pneumatic actuation and electronic control that could:

  • Meet strict hygiene requirements
  • Reduce air and energy consumption
  • Increase productivity

NORGREN SOLUTION

Norgren developed an integrated valve and actuator control (IVAC) that comprises the valve, flow controls, cushioning and sensors in a single integrated actuator unit. The IVAC requires only one pneumatic and one electrical connection, eliminating multiple valve islands, components, tubing and accessories. The IVAC allows OEMs and their end user customers:

  • DESIGN FLEXIBILITY – The IVAC conforms to the latest ISO VDMA dimensions, so it can be used on current machine designs. The single M12 connection can connect to a hardwired system or plug directly into a fieldbus system. The integrated unit also improves machine aesthetics.
  • ENERGY SAVINGS – Eliminating air piping between valves and actuators reduces compressed air consumption by up to 40%, reducing the cost per working stroke and reducing energy costs.
  • CLEANABILITY – With its smooth, hygienic body design and single electrical connection, the cleanline IVAC is easy to wash down. The IVAC helps the OEM deliver a machine that meets strict USDA and European regulatory standards for hygiene.
  • REDUCED INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE COSTS – The integrated unit is easier to install, maintain and replace than multiple components, reducing service time and expense for the end user.
