Door Refurbishment - Control Systems
CUSTOMISED DOOR CONTROL ASSEMBLY REDUCED INSTALLATION TIME AND DOWNTIME FOR THE CUSTOMER
A major train door manufacturer required a new unit to replace the current pneumatic system used to operate automatic train doors on class 14X and 15X and 170 vehicles. The existing controls are mounted separately in the ceiling with the piping and regulators required, and are often the cause of frequent delays to schedules.
This particular part of the system was due for its first refurbishment since initial installation. The new unit needed to be modular in design and thus easier to replace, and also be ‘better-engineered’ to replace the need for individually piped and wired valves.
To solve this problem, Norgren's design team engineered a modular replacement that consisted of a single plug-in block, which housed valves and regulators. This provided the customer with a simplified solution and improved the performance, safety and reliability of the door system.
Norgren exceeded the expectations of the customer by offering a customised solution that met the design requirements, as well as delivering a short installation time for the product, resulting in reduced downtime for the customer.
The Norgren door control module gave the customer vastly improved reliability of the door system, which is a key system on the vehicle.
