Norgren to showcase latest life science innovations at Compamed 2012

Srijeda, 3rd Listopad 2012

Norgren will showcase a range of highly innovative products on stand P35 in Hall 8a at Medica’s COMPAMED 2012, to be held at Messe Düsseldorf from 14-16 November 2012.

Norgren to showcase latest life science innovations at Compamed 2012

The company will display state-of-the-art technologies designed to deliver Engineering Advantage to the life sciences sector from both its Swiss-based subsidiary FAS (Fluid Automation Systems) and US-based subsidiary Kloehn Inc. at the event, which will be attended by leading specifiers and systems designers from across the world.

On show from FAS will be the new Flatprop EQP proportional valve which is believed to deliver over 20 per cent more flow than competing products. Drawing on the company’s extensive experience in the design and manufacture of the 16mm Flatprop EQI, the proportional valve that originally enabled the miniaturisation of acute, sub-acute and emergency or ambulatory care ventilators, the Flatprop EQP delivers over 40 per cent more flow than the EQI and has been tested and validated to the same high standards of reliability and life expectancy – in excess of 100 million cycles. Maintaining the low power consumption of 2.5W, Flatprop EQP is now capable of delivering 186 litres per minute of oxygen at an inlet pressure of 2.0 Bar.

MedicanewsAlso on display will be a new media separated (MS) valve offering the key benefits of compact size, low power consumption and an operating pressure range unrivalled in its class.

The Chipsol MS 2/2 valve from FAS has been developed in response to increased demand for compact MS products for both life science analysis and environmental monitoring applications. It draws on Norgren’s extensive experience in the design and development of high-performance MS products which prevent system contamination through very specific material usage and optimum rinseability.

Applications range from acting as an isolation valve in portable devices such as gas chromatographs, to dispensing and dosing functions where precision and repeatability are paramount - for example reagent and eluent dispensing - and use as a shut-off valve in systems with limited space or heat management capacity.

Its key attributes include minimal power consumption – just 0.5W; compact 8mm footprint; and its ability to operate at a broad range of pressures from vacuum to 2.1 bar. Inlet and outlet volumes are 9 µl while the products offer exceptional rinseability with virtually no unswept volume.

Visitors to the stand will also be able to see the new Kloehn IP 1000 inline pump for micro-fluidic handling featuring a cartridge syringe that can be replaced on-site in just seconds with no tools required.

This product enables users of clinical chemistry equipment to quickly and easily replace the syringes themselves without taking the pump out of service and returning it to the factory. The compact size allows OEMs to design equipment with their own drives and still have a mechanically robust pump.

Meanwhile, Norgren will be showing a new compact pump from Kloehn designed to fit easily into various OEM equipment designs. Its open electronic architecture allows builders to program the pump according to application-specific requirements. The new pump’s stable drive mechanism maximises syringe life.

Richard Edwards, Global Technical Director for Norgren Life Sciences, explained: “The Medica event is once again an excellent opportunity for us to highlight the latest developments in solutions for the life sciences sector. Backed by unrivalled global technical expertise and exceptional local service, Norgren can deliver a high-performance fluidic solution for virtually any application.”
