Introducing a new media separated (MS) valve offering the key benefits of compact size, low power consumption and an operating pressure range unrivalled in its class.

Norgren, an international market leader in pneumatic motion and fluid control technologies, has introduced a new media separated (MS) valve offering the key benefits of compact size, low power consumption and an operating pressure range unrivalled in its class.

Chipsol valve newsThe Chipsol MS 2/2 valve from Norgren subsidiary FAS has been developed in response to increased demand for compact MS products for both life science analysis and environmental monitoring applications. It draws on Norgren’s extensive experience in the design and development of high-performance MS products which deliver Engineering Advantage by preventing system contamination through very specific material usage and optimum rinseability.

Applications range from acting as an isolation valve in portable devices such as gas chromatographs, to dispensing and dosing functions where precision and repeatability are paramount - for example reagent and eluent dispensing - and use as a shut-off valve in systems with limited space or heat management capacity.

Its key attributes include minimal power consumption – just 0.5W; compact 8mm footprint; and its ability to operate at a broad range of pressures from vacuum to 2.1 bar. Inlet and outlet volumes are 9 µl while the products offer exceptional rinseability with virtually no unswept volume.

Chipsol valveWeighing just 4.6g and able to be cartridge or sub-base mounted, Chipsol MS products have a response time which can be as low as 5 milliseconds depending on the application. Boasting high flow rates, exceptional reliability and minimal heat generation, each product version is validated for 30 million cycles.

Chipsol MS valves are manufactured in high-specification PEEK, with specifiers able to choose between FFPM elastomers for the most demanding applications and the USP Class VI EPDM for bio-compatibility requirements or less aggressive media.

The Chipsol range is established across the world in applications requiring compact solutions with no compromise on performance, in particular the control of pneumatic and medical micro-components.

Martin Maas, manager - marketing and business development at FAS, explained: “The new compact Chipsol MS product has been designed to provide customers with a large pressure range to work with at minimum power with optimum reliability. Using state-of-the-art materials and incorporating a range of design features to deliver unrivalled performance in applications involving both aggressive and sensitive media, Chipsol MS represents an attractive option for both life science analytical and environmental monitoring applications.”
