RELIABILITY Durability Efficiency
Material specifications were driven by the toughest operating conditions encountered in a global study of the aluminium smelting industry.
The crust must be broken every time. If Alumina is not added it can cause an Anode effect.
- The increase in temperature during Anode effects can cause serious damage to the pot equipment
- Environmental effects – PFC gases are released into the atmosphere; a reportable incident which is viewed by pot line management as very serious
Solution:
- Norgren’s end-of-stroke sensing valve can confirm that the crust has been broken
- The special PTFE seal material can withstand working conditions of 250ºC
