Innovation Focus

As one of the leading suppliers of specialized motion and fluid control solutions, we are always looking at new ways of applying our knowledge and experience into innovative new solutions and products. We have made innovation an integral part of our planning process. Not only that, it is our mission to continue to provide our customers with competitive advantage by desiging innovative solutions to their problems today and tomorrow!

In order to better focus our efforts, each one of our main locations has its specialty in terms of production, product knowledge and innovation focus.

Powertrain Center of Competence:

Chassis Cab Center of Competence:

Light Vehicle Center of Competence:

  Stuttgart (Großbettlingen) - Germany

  Seattle, Washington - USA

  Bristol - UK

Supporting and leading our three main Centers of Competence is our Advanced Engineering Group, located at MIRA research facilities in Nuneaton, UK. Their main role is to develop and verify ideas about technology and innovations as well as prepare market entrance strategies and support the GVT business units with advanced engineering solutions.

One key past innovation, which came out of our of our Advanced Engineering Group, is Sigma, an advanced technology that injects gaseous ammonia rather than an atomised liquid into the exhaust stream, resulting in a more compact and simple design.

Looking forward, we see an increasing amount of development activity being driven by new legislation and increasing fuel prices. More emphasis is being placed on technologies which will increase the performance and efficiency of the vehicle as well as operate in a more intelligent matter.

Here at GVT, we are placing increasing focus on emissions control and fuel efficiency. We are also committed to reducing total cost of ownership by manufacturing more lighter and easier to install products. Some of the questions we are asking ourselves include...

  • How can we acheive better Diesel Particulate Filter Regeneration?
  • How can we have better management of charge air and exhaust air?
  • How can we further reduce vehicle emissions?
  • How can we improve the Urea/Ammonia dosing systems?
  • How can we improve existing vehicle systems such as tire inflation to improve the operation of the vehicle?
