The idyllic location in the middle of one of the most famous wine-growing districts of Baden-Württemberg can be deceptive: just 11 km from Stuttgart city centre and very close to large industrial companies such as Daimler, Porsche, Bosch, Stihl, Kärcher and Festo, Norgren Fellbach is located in one of Germany's largest and most important industrial conurbations and in one of Europe's leading research areas.
50 years ago, in 1938, the then founder of Herion, recognised the strategic importance of the Fellbach industrial area's location and was the first to establish a company there, and later opened up a second office in Großbettlingen, also located in the Stuttgart region. During 1997, the success of Herion had caught the attention of IMI and was subsequently acquired and integrated into the Norgren Group. During 2003, the Herion offices, which were still operating under the Herion brand name, were merged with Martonair, another company which had previously been acquired by the IMI group in 1986 and integrated into Norgren. This merger created the German operations of Norgren, which are based in Alpen Germany.
Today, there are over 600 employees and two main production facilities in the Stuttgart region. With Lean Manufacturing methods and zero-defect quality strategy by means of QRQC, as well as nearly 1,000 m² of laboratory space with state-of-the-art measurement technology, test equipment for environmental simulation tests and laboratories for materials testing, you can be assured that you will be getting the best.
The Global Vehicle Technologies (GVT) division shares offices with the rest of the Norgren group in Fellbach, where we have the majority of our Business Development and Engineering functions based. However, the majority of our production and other operational functions is based out of our Großbettlingen site, which is 100% GVT devoted.
As part of the overall GVT Division, our Großbettlingen site is known as the Center of Competence for Powertrain technologies and specializes in researching and developing solutions for all applications which fall within the Powertrain such as engine control, transmission control, turbo charger control, and emissions control.
