Air Solenoid Accessory Pack (ASAP)

Within heavy and medium duty trucks, pneumatic power is used extensively to power items from the brakes to the horn, as well as accessory functions such at fifth wheel lock, suspension dump, and inter axle lock.   Each of these functions requires a pneumatic valve in order to control their actuation. Using flipper valves, which are dash mounted and manually operated valves has been one way of controlling the actuation. However, each of these valves then requires tubing to be routed under the dashboard and into the cabin, creates additional complexity in installation, requires more space, and increases overall costs.

In order to combat this issue, Norgren GVT decided to use solenoid valves to perform the pneumatic actuation and to place these valves in a package which could be mounted on the chassis rather than under the dash. The solution involved stacking multiple valves using a unique bayonet interconnect method, and then allowing actuation via inexpensive electrical switches mounted in the dashboard and connected via a standard electrical harness.   Benefits of this solution include...
