Emissions Control

Worldwide, Commercial Vehicle manufacturers are having to comply with stricter emissions standards for both Commercial Vehicles and Automobiles. With Euro V in effect in Europe, and EPA 07 (US 07) in place in the USA, Manufacturers are now looking at how they can meet the the emissions levels set by the next round of emissions standards.

Norgren GVT recognizes the importance of protecting the environment, and we are committed to doing our part.

We recognize the challenge that is facing all manufacturers in how they can meet current and future legislations without compromising on the performance of the vehicle. Norgren GVT is committed to pioneering new solutions which will enable our customers to meet and exceed the levels set by the Emissions legislation while at the same time optimize on engine performance.

Areas for which we have solutions include:

  • EGR - Motion & Flow Control
  • SCR - System Components
  • Alternative Fuels
  • DPF - Active Filter Regeneration Sub-System Solutions

Norgren GVT's capabilities include the expertise of the Buschjost Group, a sister company with over 75 years of experience in controlling and dosing difficult media in challenging environments. Our ambition is to provide you with higher integration of systems and functions and more efficient solutions. Current developments include integrated subsystems which include flow control and actuation so that you can have superior control and function at the best total system costs.

The deep knowledge our engineers have in emission control systems currently on the market as well as those being developed for the future is key in helping you improve the overall performance of your systems.

 Current Solution Areas...

EGR - MOTION & FLOW CONTROL

With the next round of Emissions Control Legislation such as Euro VI coming up soon, having enhanced EGR control as part of your emissions reduction strategy will remain key. Norgren GVT can provide you with the solutions needed in order to achieve the necessary reductions. We are currently working on creating more robust, more precise and more efficient solutions.

Examples of current solutions include;

SCR SYSTEM COMPONENTS

More stringent emissions reduction standards worldwide are resulting in many OEM's using a combined control strategy where EGR is used in combination with SCR in order to achieve the required reductions. Norgren GVT is committed to helping you achieve these reductions and is working on developing the SCR System Components which are required.

One product which is currently available is our AdBlue/Urea Tank Heating Valve, which regulates the flow of coolant to the AdBlue or Urea Tank for temperature regulation. Is suitable for all highway diesel and Tier 4 engines, and is applicable for SCR systems for EPA 2010 and Euro VI.

  • Reliably used in the field since 2002
  • Fully Interchangeable Fittings
  • Damped Closing - Reduces strain on the components within the cooling system
  • Draws a maximum of 420mA at 24V

COOLANT PRESSURE & FLOW CONTROL

Many current solutions for Euro V require the usage of multiple heat exchangers, and this trend will only continue. For Euro VI and EPA 10, the major challenge will be how to ensure the effectiveness of cooling systems in terms of temperature management, optimal coolant flow and enhanced control. We have anticipated this trend and have already developed a number of solutions for meeting these demands.

Examples of current solutions include;

ACTIVE FILTER REGENERATION SUB-SYSTEM SOLUTIONS

As emissions legislation continues to set stricter limitations on the allowable levels of pollutant emissions such as NOx and particulate matter, the need for diesel particulate filters will continue to grow. However, due to the unpredictability of the duty cycle, active regeneration of the filter will be required. This means more precise control over such processes as fuel vaporization and temperature will be required.

Norgren GVT is committed to providing you with the solutions you need. We have a number of fluid control solutions which we have developed for Active Filter Regeneration Systems, ranging from single air purge control manifolds to complete air/diesel manifolds.

ALTERNATIVE FUELS

Alternative means of reducing emissions, such as utilizing BioFuels, Fuel cells or hybrid vehicles that run on both fuel and electricity are becoming more and more popular amongst all. Consumers are purchasing hybrid cars, and city governments are purchasing hybrid buses, and more manufacturers are developing Hybrid vehicles and systems.

Norgren GVT is also committed to protecting the environment and we are developing additional environmentally friendly technologies for both commercial and passenger vehicles.
