Norgren products are designed after careful consideration of market needs and trends. FAS, part of the Norgren group, have been working with Saime for a number of years on ventilator projects. Joint cooperation in terms of research and development has led to innovative new valve solutions for this demanding market place.
CUSTOMERAPPLICATION
Saime is a French designer and manufacturer of critical care ventilators. Since its foundation in 1984 they have been striving to improve the daily living conditions of people with respiratory diseases through the development of innovative critical care ventilators and services. Critical care ventilation requires small, lightweight devices with low power consumption and high performance.
BUSINESSCHALLENGE
In today’s modern technology environment the drive towards miniaturisation is moving forward at a rapid pace. The need to provide solutions that are smaller but offer either the same or improved performance is on the increase.
Saime’s main objective when in the research and development phase of new products is to offer the medical market critical care ventilators that deliver increased portability and autonomy. Together with FAS they have been continually looking at ways to derive proportional valve solutions that offer Saime crucial weight and size savings combined with high performance figures thus allowing the increasing miniaturisation of the ventilators.
NORGRENSOLUTION
In partnership with Saime, Norgren developed a small sized, power efficient gas control solution for an intensive care ventilator, using FAS proportional and solenoid valves and Norgren pressure regulators. This delivers high flows and accurate pressure control, thereby helping Saime to achieve high performance in a small space envelope.
ENGINEERINGADVANTAGE
The solution provided by Norgren’s Medical Group met Saime’s critical specification, helping it to build the Elisee, a ventilator featuring the performance of an intensive care unit for all circumstances.
