DEGREES OF PROTECTION PROVIDED BY ENCLOSURES (IP CODE)

The following description refers to the CEI 60529 standard.
The object of this standard is to give:

1.  Definitions for degrees of protection provided by enclosures of electrical equipment as regards:

     » protection of persons against access to hazardous parts inside the enclosure

     » protection of equipment inside the enclosure against ingress of solid foreign objects

     » protection of equipment inside the enclosure against harmful effects due to the ingress of water

2.  Designations for these degrees of protection.

The degree of protection provided by an enclosure is indicated by the IP Code in the following way:
