Driving Innnovation in Metal Stamping
A Partnership Driving Innovation
Our successful partnership with Design & Automation Solutions (DAS) is setting new standards in precision metal stamping. By combining our expertise with DAS, we have delivered a cutting-edge metal cropping machine for Batten & Allen, a leading name in precision metal stamping services.
The new metal stamping machine, powered by our advanced linear motion technology, offers enhanced flexibility and productivity. A shining example of what can be achieved when we work together to push the boundaries of what's possible in factory automation.

The challenge: precision and flexibility
In the world of precision metal stamping, efficiency and adaptability are paramount. Batten & Allen required a machine capable of meeting diverse production demands without compromising on quality or speed. The primary challenge was to create a system that could easily switch between different stamping heads while maintaining the high force and accuracy needed for metal cropping.
DAS, a specialist in machinery design, took on this challenge and turned to us as a partner who could supply not only components, but a complete, integrated pneumatic and electric motion solution. The system needed to be robust, reliable, and perfectly synchronized to deliver flawless performance.
The solution: a collaborative engineering effort
Collaboratively we supported DAS by providing the core components and technical expertise needed to bring their innovative design to life. The success of the project hinged on our ability to respond quickly to DAS's system specifications and ensure the seamless integration of our electrical and pneumatic actuation components.
Key components for peak performance
The machine's design integrates several key technologies from our portfolio, each playing a crucial role in its overall function:
Horizontal motion: IMI Bahr LSZ60 linear axis manages the horizontal movement, working seamlessly with a Mitsubishi servo-motor to ensure precise and controlled feeding of the foil strip.
Vertical cropping force: For the powerful vertical motion, our E/809000/M rod style electric cylinders deliver an impressive 6000N cropping force, enabling clean and accurate cuts every time.
Pneumatic control: The machine's pneumatic cylinders are managed by IMI Norgren VR10 valve islands, selected for their efficiency and reliability.
Air preparation: A consistent supply of high-quality compressed air is delivered by IMI Norgren Excelon Plus air preparation system, protecting the machine's components and ensuring long-term operational stability.
A partnership built on trust and expertise
This project highlights the value of true collaboration. Mick Stallwood, Owner at DAS, shared his perspective on working with us: "Partnering with IMI on this project has been a seamless experience," he said. "Their ability to quickly respond to our system specifications and provide high-quality, compatible components was instrumental in the successful design and build of the metal cropping machine."
Pushing the industry forward
The new metal cropping machine is more than just a piece of equipment; it's a strategic asset for Batten & Allen, enabling them to continue delivering exceptional service to their customers. This innovative solution demonstrates our shared commitment to advancing manufacturing capabilities through smart design and superior technology.
By working closely with OEMs like DAS, we can help solve complex challenges and create systems that offer tangible benefits, from increased productivity to a lower total cost of ownership.
