We work with global mass spectrometry OEMs to design and manufacture the most reliable mass spectrometry products available.
Our deep scientific and technical expertise has developed high-quality electron multipliers, ion optic grids, filaments, high voltage power supplies and world-class ion optic software for GC-MS, LC-MS, ICP-MS, TOF-MS, field portable miniaturised systems and magnetic sector applications.

Mass spectrometry is a powerful analytical technique that involves the ionisation of molecules and their separation based on their mass-to-charge ratio.
The process involves ionising a sample, separating the resulting ions by their mass-to-charge ratio, and detecting and measuring the abundance of these ions. Our electron multipliers are used to detect the presence of ion signals emerging from the mass analyser. The resulting mass spectra provide a unique fingerprint for each compound, allowing for the identification and quantification of the individual components in the sample.
Mission critical components
Our IMI Adaptas brand manufactures numerous critical components used in mass spectrometry for gas chromatography (GC-MS), liquid chromatography (LC-MS), inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), time of flight mass spectrometry (TOF-MS), field portable miniaturised systems and magnetic sector applications, including electron multipliers, filaments, ion optic grids, and high voltage power supplies.
Our range of electron multipliers is the broadest range available on the market, spanning discrete dynode, TOF, ceramic and glass continuous dynode and miniaturised electron multipliers.
Our filaments are designed and manufactured with SISAlloy™, rhenium, rhenium/tungsten, or iridium wire and are available with yttria or thoria coating at various thicknesses.
IMI Adaptas ion optic grids are extremely rugged and damage resistant, circular or rectangular shaped, and are designed with ceramic or metal frames depending on your needs with customisation available.
Our wide range of high voltage power supplies are designed with high stability performance, low ripple performance (as low as 0.0025%), fast reversing performance, hot switchable capability (as little as 25ms), and both standard and customised models are available.
We also produce world-class software with SIMION™ - the gold standard in design simulation software for over 30 years which is used by major OEMs for calculating electric fields and trajectories of charged particles.
Mass spectrometry is widely used in many fields, including chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacy, medicine and more. It is used to determine the chemical composition of a sample or molecule and can be used to detect and identify a wide range of substances, including drugs, environmental contaminants, and metabolites in biological samples. The technique is highly sensitive and can detect compounds at very low concentrations, making it an important tool for many analytical applications.
