Why choose a Valve Manifold?
Valve Manifolds, also known as valve islands, system valves or plug in type manifold, are a collection of valves mounted into one unit with central power and air supply and connected to a PLC.
Why choose a Valve Manifold for your application?
Valve Manifolds, also known as valve islands, system valves or plug in type manifold, are a collection of valves mounted into one unit with central power and air supply and connected to a PLC. Compared to individually wired solenoid valves, valve manifolds have many benefits that make user’s lives easier, simpler, and hassle-free.
Reduced installation time and setup time
A Valve Island requires just a single electrical connection and central air supply eliminating the time and effort required to individually install & pipe up multiple solenoid valves one by one. With a single air and power connection, a Valve Manifold controls all the different valve functions meaning less pipework and less complexity. The Valve Manifold can be configured to be customer specific to suit the application and are ready to use out of the box.
Less prone to leakage and errors
Valve Manifold remove many fittings, tubing and connections from your pneumatic system which reduces chances of leakage. The electrical wiring also arrives pre-configured and since Valve Manifold combine the communications of all the valve slices, programming is greatly simplified.
Neat, Compact & Easy to install
Compared to traditional methods, with much less wiring required, Valve Manifold provide a neater, compact solution. Optimized design also maximizes the footprint to flow ratio occupying a smaller footprint on machines. There are no restrictions in installation orientation and the Valve Manifold can be mounted either directly or via a DIN rail. If space constraints are a prime consideration, the range offers an IP40 version where the connectors can be positioned either horizontally or vertically and is even more compact.
Connectivity and Communication
Valve islands offer various communication protocols such as Multipole, IO-Link and Industrial Ethernet. Allowing 2-way communication for diagnostics & monitoring capabilities to remotely identify when there has been a valve failure, short circuit or even cycle count to optimize operations.
Flexibility & Modularity
The Norgren VR Valve Manifold range has a simple plug-in sub-base design which allows users to replace valves easily. Users can readily expand the size and functionality of the Valve Manifold by simply adding in more slices as required to match the changing demands of their applications.
